Nigeria Olympic Committee To Honour Six Nigerians

The Nigeria Olympic Committee will on conduct the installation of its patrons from the northern part of the country on Thursday, November 8. The event which is scheduled for the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, is a continuation of a similar ceremony conducted two weeks ago in Lagos at the Elegushi Palace, where five personalities were decorated.

At the Lagos installation, Mrs Kofo Nwokedi, Sir Marc Wabara, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Oba S.A. Elegushi were inducted as patrons of the Olympic body.

For the northern event, the six Nigerians who would be honoured include former Nigeria Football Federation boss, Ibrahim Galadima; Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar; Zainab Bagudu, wife of the Kebbi State Governor; Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba; Major General Adamu Dyeri (retd.) and Bashari Mohammed Gumel.

While speaking to reporters, NOC president, Habu Gumel, said: “The role and duties of our distinguished patrons, whom we are inaugurating are majorly advisory and ambassadorial. We shall from time to time defer to your high offices with a view to seeking your advice or guidance and also take advantage of your wealth of experience or connectivity to further strengthen our operations and the delivery of our common Olympic Movement objectives.”
