Nigeria’s third tier domestic football league, Nationwide League One (NLO) will commence on May 23rd, 2019 as part of resolutions reached by the NLO management after its Annual General Meeting, AGM, held in Abuja on Thursday.
The kickoff date for the commencement of the Nationwide League was communicated in a communique released at the end of the Congress and signed by the Communique Drafting Committee Chairman, David Allu.
“The congress endorsed that the 2018/2019 NLO Football season should Kick-off from Thursday, May 23, 2019.” it read.
The Congress equally passed a vote of confidence on the existing leadership of the League led by Alhaji Mohammed Alkali and the Secretariat headed by Mr Olushola Ogunnowo pointing to “evidence in the visible transformation and future assurance of big investors working with the league” as reasons for approving another four (4) years tenure for the Board.
The Congress went further to praise the Nigeria Football Federation for its efforts in repositioning football in Nigeria and stated that the format of the league will be that “used for divisions 1-3 approved by the NLO Board for 2019 season.”
