NPFL: Salisu Yusuf Excited After ‘Tough’ Win Against Wolves (AUDIO)

Rangers Int’l coach Salisu Yusuf says he is excited after watching the Flying Antelopes labour to a 1-0 win against struggling Warri Wolves at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu on Sunday.

Striker Christian Nnaji fired in the decider from an Israel Abia assist after just 17 minutes in a keenly contested Match Day 9 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tie.

Speaking after the match, the former Super Eagles chief coach stated that Wolves’ approach to the game made things very difficult for Rangers, but was happy they eventually grabbed all three points at stake.

“We are happy because we got the 3 points, but it was a very tough game for us,” admitted, the former Enyimba coach.

“Warri Wolves really pressed, they contested all the balls, and they kept fighting until the final whistle. So, I think they have done well, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is the 3 points.

“The Warri team, they kept running throughout the game. When they were one goal down, they never showed any sign that they are losing. So, they kept coming, and those kind of teams can be very dangerous.

“They could have scored a goal, they had two chances. So, you see it was a very tough game, but we really thank God for the 3 points.”

The win lifted the 7-time NPFL champions Rangers to 3rd on the table, with 17 points from 9 matches, 4 points behind table-toppers Enyimba, while Warri Wolves dropped to the relegation zone on 17th position, with 9 points from as many games.
