Nigeria Beat ‘Stubborn’ Cameroon At Davis Cup Team Tournament To Keep Promotion Hopes Alive

Team Nigeria is on course to gain promotion into African Zone Group II after the duo of Sylvester Emmanuel and Joseph Imeh led the team to a second successive victory with a 2-1 win over stubborn Cameroon at the ongoing Davis Cup team tournament in Nairobi, Kenya.

Sylvester Emmanuel defeated Etienne Teboh of Cameroon 6-4 6-4 to put Nigeria 1-0 up only for the Cameroonians to draw level after Joseph Imeh lost 2-6 1-6 to Blaise Nkwenti.

The duo of Sylvester Emmanuel and Joseph Imeh later teamed up to secure a 2-1 win by beating Blaise Nkwenti and Cedric Ngoumtsa Wouobong in the doubles rubber.

The latest victory takes Nigeria’s scores to an amazing 5-1 record in the Pool A of the Africa Zone III ahead of their final group duel against Benin Republic, who also defeated the Cameroonians on Wednesday.

Nigeria had thrashed Benin Republic 3-0 in their first group duel on Tuesday.
