Nasarawa Goalkeeper Ayeleso Delighted With Eagles Invitation

Nasarawa United goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso has expressed happiness over his invitation to the CHAN Eagles camp in Abuja ahead of next month’s African Nations Championship in Morocco.

The shotstopper was one of three players invited to camp by Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf.

The other two players are Tosin Omoyele and Sadiq Yusuf from Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Plateau United.

Ayeleso will now battle with three other goalkeepers namely Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye and Theophilus Afekohai at the Abuja camp of the home-based Eagles in a bid to pick up slots in the final team for the 2018 CHAN in Morocco.

In a chat with the Punch, Ayeleso could not hide his excitement. He said: “The call-up came as a surprise because I was not expecting it. It however shows that what I am doing with Nasarawa United is not going unnoticed.”

“I will give my best to ensure that I deserve a place in the final team. I know it will not be easy because the other keepers in camp are also good – I even believe they are better than I am. It will be a big privilege to wear the national colours.” he added.

Suraj Ayeleso kept 16 clean sheets during the 2016/17 NPFL season, which was more than any other goalkeeper in the league.
