John Obi Mikel enjoyed a splendid surprise on his 33rd birthday as his Russian partner Olga Diyachenko ensured the coronavirus lockdown did not dampen the shine of the Former Super Eagles captain’s special day.
Even as they observed the stay-at-home order in their London home, Ms Diyachenko somehow managed to organise a surprise party for the father of her twin daughters much to Mikel’s delight.
The former Chelsea midfielder took to Instagram to express his appreciation to wellwishers and his partner.
“Thank you for all the kind messages and wishes! And thank you my love @olga_allegra for organising the most special surprise,” he wrote.
Mikel is currently a free agent after leaving Turkish side Trabzonspor and has been linked with a move to the MLS and several Brazilian clubs including Botafogo in recent days.
The 33-year-old who has a winners medal from the 2013 Africa Nations Cup retired from the national team after leading the Super Eagles to a bronze medal at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
He’s Nigeria’s most decorated player having won 2 league titles, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League during a ten-year stay at Chelsea.
