Ebuehi Seeks AFCON Call Up as He Returns from Injury

Super Eagles defender, Tyronne Ebuehi is close to making a return to full fitness for his Portuguese club, Benfica, as his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury keeps progressing as expected, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Ebuehi ruptured his cruciate ligament in during pre-season with Benfica following his free transfer from Dutch side ADO Den Haag in the summer after a commendable World Cup debut for Nigeria.

The 23-year-old was outstanding for the Eagles in the game against Iceland at the Russia 2018 World Cup with his ability to operate as a wingback or full back on either flank.

A celebrated move to Benfica was cut short by the injury he picked up but his recovery has been smooth sailing and he is expected to return to training later in January.

His return will no doubt put him in good light to be selected for Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations provided he does not suffer any further complications when he resumes competitively for Benfica.
