Arsenal star Mesut Ozil will wear the iconic number 10 jersey at the club as from the new season.
This was confirmed by the North London side on Tuesday afternoon.
Germany international midfielder Ozil has been wearing the no.11 shirt since his €50m (£44m) move from European champions Real Madrid in 2013.
Former shirt recipient Jack Wilshere left the club at the end of last month thus paving the way for Ozil to take the no.10 jersey.
Arsenal Academy graduate Wilshere left the club after his contract expired this summer.
While speaking with the Arsenal website on the iconic no.10, Ozil said: “My childhood idol, Zinedine Zidane, wore this number and it’s still the most characteristic one from the playmaker position.”
