Maradona Denies Being Hospitalised After Nigeria Win

Argentina football legend Diego Armando Maradona has debunked widespread reports that he was hospitalised after the all-important victory Nigeria in a Russia 2018 World Cup Group D clash at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday night.

A video of him being treated by doctors had earlier surfaced with widespread reports claiming that he was hospitalised after Argentina secured a last 16 spot by beating Nigeria 2-1 in their final group game in St. Petersburg.

Maradona has, however, debunked the hospitalisation claims as he revealed that he was only checked by the doctor at halftime.

Speaking via his Instagram account on Wednesday, Maradona said: “I want to tell everyone that I am fine, that I am not, neither was I interned. In the halftime of the game against Nigeria, my neck hurt a lot and I suffered a decompensation. I was checked by a doctor and he recommended me to go home before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were risking it all. How could I leave? I send a kiss to everyone, thanks for the support!”
