La Liga Review (Sunday): Valencia Close Gap On Barcelona With Record Breaking Win

Valencia have moved back to within four points of league leaders Barcelona following their 2-0 away win over Catalan side Espanyol in a Matchday 12 clash on Sunday evening.

The home side hit the post twice through Sergi Darder and Gerard Moreno in a first half that ended goalless before a second half completely dominated by Marcelinho’s men.

Their dominance paid off midway into the second half as Valencia took the lead through a long range effort from French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia before Santi Mina added a second goal to wrap up the victory thus making it a club record 8th successive wins.

The win takes Valencia to 30 points from 12 games behind leaders Barcelona (34 points) ahead of their meeting at the Mestalla on Sunday.
