Ilechukwu Calls For Patience At New Club Heartland (AUDIO)

Fidelis Ilechukwu

Newly-appointed Heartland coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has called for patience at the Owerri-based club, adding that ‘there is no magic in football’.

In a chat with www.busybuddiesng.com, the former MFM FC handler, who recently signed a 3-year contract with the struggling 5-time Nigeria champions, said his primary target is to ensure the club is stable.

“I signed a 3-year contract (at Heartland), and looking forward to having Fidelis Ilechukwu in Owerri for three years, you know what it means,” he said.

“And the club has to be patient. They have to be patient because there is no magic in football. For anybody that is expecting me to perform magic, that is not going to be possible. But with God everything is possible.”

In an attempt to stabilize the team, The Working One as Ilechukwu is fondly called, didn’t rule out the possibility of securing continental football for Heartland, 2-time runners-up in the CAF Champions League.

“I am here to make sure the team is stable; it’s all about stability for now. Maybe, in trying to do that, we may get continental (ticket) or win the league. But for now, it is for stability.

“But being the kind of person I am; my philosophy and everything, they (Heartland management) believe that I suppose to achieve my goal here; which is continental,” he concluded.
