Shangai Shenhua’s Odion Ighalo has seemingly confirmed his desire to remain at Old Trafford a day after his loan deal got terminated.

The ex-Super Eagles forward put out a new month message to his followers on Twitter alongside a picture of him in a Manchester United jersey on Monday.

Ighalo joined United midway through the English Premier League season as cover for an injured Marcos Rashford.

His addition earned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer criticism from several quarters including past Manchester United greats who criticised the club for signing the 30-year-old from the Chinese Super League.

But Ighalo will go on from zero to hero with four goals in just three starts, with the most recent of them (in March) a sublime volley in United’s Europa League last 16 first leg 5-0 thrashing of LASK.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen the Nigerian’s loan deal pan out with the Premier League put on hold since March.

Ighalo’s parent club Shenhua offered the ex-Watford talisman a weekly 400,000 pounds contract but with Solskjaer keen on having the Nigerian till the end of the season, the forward’s future has been hanging in the balance.

Reports indicate that the Chinese Super League side are asking for more money as United bid to keep Ighalo but negotiations have proven unfruitful baring for a Skysports report that Shenhua have softened their stance on having Ighalo back before the resumption of the CSL and will let the 30-year-old stay till January when the EPL ends.

However, Ighalo will suffer a 75,000 Euros loss in his new wages if the new loan deal pulls through and will have to extend his contract with his parent club.

Despite the debacle, the former ChangChun Yatai striker has been attending all Manchester United training sessions at Carrington.
