French Ligue 1 Review: PSG Extend Lead With Slim Win Over 10-Man Nantes As Lyon Fail In Second Place Bid After Angers Draw

French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have extended their lead at the top of the table to eleven points after a 12th minute Angel Di Maria strike handed them a slim 1-0 away win at 10-man Nantes.

After Di Maria’s early goal, Unai Emery’s side had water opportunities to extend the lead but it didn’t come back to haunt them against a Nantes side that finished the game with 10 men in controversial circumstances after the referee unjustly sent off Diego Carlos for two yellow cards.

Olympique Lyon failed to capitalise on Monaco’s slip up on Saturday following a disappointing 1-1 home draw with 10-man Angers.

A win would have taken the UEFA Europa League (UEL) campaigners into second spot and they had Nabir Fekir to thank after his second half strike cancelled out Cameroon striker Karl Toko Ekambi’s 14th minute opener from the penalty spot.

The away side finished the game with 10 men following Flavien Tait’s dismissal for two yellow cards but Luton failed to take advantage as both sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
