Former Super Eagles winger Finidi George says he is ready and open to an offer to coach any of Nigeria’s youth teams.
The former Ajax and Real Betis player has had some coaching stints with youth teams at his former club, Real Mallorca.
In a social media interview with sports journalists, George, who was capped 62 times by Nigeria, also informed he will welcome the opportunity to coach the Super Eagles, though, his preference will be the youth teams.
“Actually, in Europe here, I’ve worked with youth players, and I think I’m not afraid of the challenge (of coaching the Super Eagles),” the 49-year-old said. “But I’ve always said ‘just take a step at a time,’ and if that’s what’s possible, yeah, that’s what I will prefer, Nevertheless, I will not say no if I am given the opportunity to work with the Super Eagles. Of course, I will not say no.
“But I’ve always said that I wanted the youth teams because that is what I have been doing for a couple of years here in Europe – in Mallorca, in Holland.
“I’ve worked with youth players from 15, 16, 17. So, I know them well, and I can really impact the youth team.”
The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner is currently in Holland, where he is working with the youth set-up at former side, Ajax.
