FA Cup Review: Chelsea, Southampton Secure Last Four Spots

Premier League champions Chelsea and Southampton have completed the semifinal lineup for the FA Cup after they secured wins over Leicester City and Wigan Athletic respectively.

Chelsea needed an extra time goal from substitute Pedro Rodriguez to beat their hosts Leicester City 2-1 in their last eight tie on Sunday.

The Blues had taken the lead through underfire Spanish striker Alvaro Morata who ended a 13-game scoreless run before Jamie Vardy scored late for Leicester to take the game into extra time thus paving the way for Pedro to win the game for Antonio Conte’s men on the stroke of 1st half extra time.

In the earlier FA Cup game played on Sunday, Danish midfielder Pierre Hoejbjerg and Cedric Soares scored in the second half to give Southampton a 2-0 win at giantkillers Wigan Athletic in their quarterfinal tie.

Until the loss to Southampton, English League One outfit Wigan had knocked out three Premier League sides namely Bournemouth, West Ham United and Manchester City.

Chelsea and Southampton have now joined Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the semis.
