Carlos Tevez Shares Intimate Kiss With Diego Maradona As Boca Claim Argentine Title

Carlos Tevez scored a late screamer to lead Boca Juniors to the Argentine league title on Saturday, as the Buenos Aires club overcame Diego Maradona’s Gimnasia 1-0 to pip their arch-rivals River Plate on a dramatic last day of the season.

If Maradona – a former Boca player and staunch fan – was upset with the defeat, he did his best to hide it as he shared a surprisingly intimate kiss with Tevez at the end of proceedings.

River led Boca by a point going into their final round of games and could have guaranteed the Superliga title with a victory.

However, they could only scrape a 1-1 draw away at Atletico Tucuman.

At the same time, Boca needed victory at home to Gimnasia and hope River tripped up.

Tevez made sure Boca got the required three points with a thundering drive eighteen minutes from time that lifted Boca above River and secured the title.

It was Boca’s third league title in four years and robbed River of their first league flag since 2014.

Boca also earned revenge for agonising losses to the bitter rivals in the Copa Libertadores in the final in 2018 and semifinal last year.

Boca’s dramatic win had a tinge of added intrigue as it came against a side coached by Diego Maradona, the Boca fan and former player who has publicly fought with another Boca idol and now the club’s vice-president, Juan Roman Riquelme.
