Carabao Cup: Big Guns Pass Third Round Test

The big guns have booked their spot in the 4th round of the 2017 Carabao Cup after they passed their various third round tests on Wednesday evening.

Top teams like Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton all saw action in a goal-filled Carabao Cup night.

Manchester City defeated hosts West Brom 2-1 in the battle of two English Premier League (EPL) sides courtesy a brace from German star Leroy Sane either side of Claudio Yacob’s goal for the home side. City rivals Manchester United are also through to the next round after they thrashed English Championship side Burton Albion 4-1 with goals from Marcus Rashford (2), Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial while Lloyd Dyer got the away side’s consolation goal.

London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea will also be in the 4th round following wins over Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest. Arsenal defeated Doncaster Rovers 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium through a 25th minute strike from Theo Walcott while Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi netted a hattrick to help Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 5-1. Kenedy and youngster Charly Musonda got the other goals for the EPL champions with Tendayi Darikwa getting the lone strike for the away side.

In the final clash of the night, teenage forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted a brace to help underfire Everton to a 3-0 win over visiting Sunderland. substitute Oumar Niasse got the third goal for the Toffees.
