Boniface Eager To Return –Leverkusen Coach, Alonso

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has said Victor Boniface is itching to get back on the pitch.

Boniface has been out since January with a groin injury.

The striker picked up the injury in the Super Eagles camp ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

He could make his long awaited return on Wednesday in the German Cup semi-finals against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Speaking in his presser on Tuesday, Alonso said:”We have no injured players. Everyone could be available for the squad,” Alonso said.

“Boniface could play a part of the game. He trained hard and came through it with a strong mentality. He can’t wait to be back on the pitch.”

Boniface has scored 10 goals, made seven assists in 16 league appearances for Leverkusen this season.
