French winger Ousmane Dembele continued his impressive start to the new Spanish La Liga season after he helped Barcelona to the top by getting the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win at Real Valladolid.

The France World Cup winner scored in the 57th minute to hand the Catalan giants the three maximum points at stake against the newly promoted side.

The slim win takes the champions above former leaders Real Sociedad at the top of the table.

In one of the other two games on Saturday, Atletico Madrid recorded their first win of the new season after the Rojiblancos also secured a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano in the Madrid Derby courtesy a 63rd minute strike from another France World Cup winner, Antoine Griezmann.

Real Betis picked up their first point of the season in the earlier game on Saturday following the goalless draw at Deportivo Alaves.
