Besiktas Receive UEFA Fine For Cat’s Pitch Invasion

Turkish giants Besiktas have been heavily fined by European football’s governing body, UEFA, following a cat’s pitch invasion during their Champions League round of 16 second leg clash at home to German champions Bayern Munich.

The game which was played at the Vodafone Park in Istanbul ended 3-1 in favour of the Bavarian giants for an aggregate 8-1 victory.

The Istanbul game was briefly stopped by English referee Michael Oliver in the second half at Vodafone Park until the cat left the pitch.

Besiktas were fined 34,000 euros (£29,880) having been earlier charged with “insufficient organisation”, and have also been penalised for fans throwing objects and blocking stairways.
