Barbora Krejcikova Defeats Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova To Win French Open Title

Unseeded Barbora Krejcikova completed a remarkable run in Paris by beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to win the French Open title.

The Czech overcame a wobble in the second set to win 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 against Russian Pavlyuchenkova to claim her first singles Grand Slam title at the Court Philippe-Chatrier.

She’d won five doubles and mixed doubles crowns but had never made it to the final of a Grand Slam in the women’s singles before her fairytale run in France.

Krejcikova can crown an incredible French Open tournament by winning the doubles final on Sunday with partner and fellow Czech Katerina Siniakova against the pair of Iga Swiatek and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
