Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has showered encomium on Victor Boniface even has he praised the Nigerian for his impressive start at the club.
Boniface linked up with Die Werkself from Belgian Pro League outfit Union St. Gilloise in the summer.
The 22-year-old has however settled down quickly at the Bundesliga outfit.
The striker has so far registered 14 goals and seven assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.
Alonso eulogised Boniface for his quick impact at the BayArena.
“We could not be certain that the players would perform so well straightaway,” Alonso told a press conference.
With Victor Boniface, he is still very young, maybe we didn’t expect this so quickly from him.
“But obviously, we are also very pleased that he has made such a good impact as well.”
