AFCON 2023: Troost-Ekong Fires Impressive Super Eagles Past CIV To Boost Campaign

A William Troost-Ekong second-half penalty earned Nigeria’s Super Eagles a 1-0 win against hosts Côte d’Ivoire at Stade Alassane Ouattara on Thursday, Completesports.com reports.

The game saw Jose Peseiro make changes in his starting 11 with Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, and Samuel Chukwueze in the line-up.

The Eagles went into the game having it all to do following their disappointing 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

For the Ivorians, they kicked off the campaign with a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau.

But it was the Nigerian side who came out tops to register their first win of the group.

The win took the Eagles, on four points, to second behind Equatorial Guinea who also are on four points.
