AFCON 2023: Salah’s Late Penalty Helps Egypt Secure 2-2 Draw Vs Mozambique

A Mohamed Salah late penalty helped Pharaohs of Egypt earned a 2-2 draw against Mozambique in Group B at the AFCON 2023 on Sunday.

Mozambique were on the verge of creating one of the upsets in AFCON history before Salah’s penalty made sure both teams shared the spoils.

Egypt got off to a very good start as Mostafa Mohamed got on the score sheet.

Ten minutes into the second half Witiness Quembo equalised for Mozambique.

In the 58th minute Clesio Bauque put Mozambique 2-1 ahead against the seven-time AFCON winners.

But in the 97th minute Salah converted from the penalty spot to deny Mozambique a shock win.

Up next for Egypt is a tough clash with Ghana’s Black Stars on Thursday, 18 January.

The Black Stars will get their campaign off against Cape Verde
