As the English Premier League restarts, fixtures for the first three weeks have been released with Arsenal travelling to face Manchester City in a return fixture on the first night of Project Restart.
The EPL got bleak without action with the advent of the coronavirus pandemic that swept through Europe in March leading to a restriction of football activities and movement generally.
But after series of discussions between stakeholders of the League and the English FA, the premier league will return on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, with several measures in place to curb a further spread of the virus.
England’s top tier returns in less than two weeks with Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal, the four sides games in hand over the rest of the league, kicking things off.
Only fixtures for the first three weeks have been released, although, reports say clubs are aware of their schedule for the rest of the season.
Odion Ighalo is expected to get his first taste of action following the coronavirus break and the extension of his loan deal with Manchester United when the Red Devils travel to White Hart Lane to take on ex-United boss Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, 19 June.
Super Eagles duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho will be expected to play some part when Leicester City visit Watford a day later on Saturday, 20 June.
Alex Iwobi will hope to delay runaway leaders Liverpool’s attempt to clinch the title at the first try when the Reds visit Goodison Park for the Merseyside derby against Everton.
