Messiless Barcelona Cruise Past Inter

Barcelona now has three wins from three matches in Group B in the Champions League after beating Inter Milan 2-0 on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri had the chance to go ahead in the 17th minute Mauro Icardi’s left-footed strike could not hit the target. Rafinha also came close to putting Barca ahead in the 27th minute after finding space the box but his low shot was saved by Samir Handanovic.

Rafinha could however not be denied a few minutes later as he gave the home team the lead with a low left-footed strike past Handanovic with a through ball from Luis Suarez inside the box making the scoreline 1-0.

Matias Vecino tried his luck for Inter eight minutes before the break with a stinging half-volley from outside the box that was threatening but fortunately looped over the bar.

An equalizer almost came from Matteo Politano for Inter just five minutes after the break with a curling strike from the edge of the box that was parried away by Ter Stegen.

Two minutes later, Suarez nearly doubled the lead for the Catalans before the hour-mark, tearing his way into the box which forced Handanovic into a good save.

Philippe Coutinho tried to make it 2-0 for the hosts 20 minutes before time with a strike from the side yard box that came off the top frame of the crossbar following an immediate counter-attack.

Barça’s Jordi Alba stepped up to give his team a further lead making it 2-0 seven minutes before the final whistle with a low strike into the bottom corner after forcing his way to the left side of the box.

Luiz Suarez had an amazing opportunity to make the scoreline 3-0 for the hosts in the last minute of regulation time after going through on the right side of the box but his low strike was saved by Handanovic.
