Maikaba Still Waiting For Golden Eaglets Contract From NFF (AUDIO)

Over two months after being named coach of Nigeria’s U-17 men’s National Team, the Golden Eaglets, Abdu Maikaba has told www.busybuddiesng.com he is yet to sign a contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take charge of the cadet side.

The soft-spoken tactician, who led his club; Akwa United to the Aiteo Cup title in October, was announced the coach of the Golden Eaglets in November, with former Niger Tornadoes gaffer Abubakar Bala, radio journalist Bunmi ‘Blair’ Haruna and Osun United goalkeeper trainer Baruwa Abideen as his assistants.

Asked whether he has reached a formal agreement with the NFF over his appointment as coach of the Eaglets, Maikaba said: “No, I’ve not signed any contract; I’m waiting for the NFF officials.

“So I will continue with my job (as Akwa United coach).

“Anytime they call; I’m ready to serve my country; I will do it.”

The Golden Eaglets have been without a coach since August, 2016 following the failure of Nigeria to qualify for the U-17 AFCON (2017) under the tutelage of Manu Garba.
