Marin Cilic has reached the final of the ongoing 2017 Wimbledon Open after he saw off the challenges of American Sam Querrey in their semi-final clash.
The Croatian defeated his 24th seeded opponent 6-7 (6-8) 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 in 2 hours and 56 minutes to seal a first final appearance at SW19.
The 28-year old, who has now qualified for a second major final after his 2014 US Open triumph, will next face Roger Federer or Tomas Berdych in Sunday’s final
Speaking after the match, a delighted Cilic said: “It’s unbelievable,”
“The way this tournament has unfolded I’ve been playing really great tennis.” he added.
With the win over Sam Querrey, Cilic becomes only the second Croatian to qualify for a Wimbledon Open final after Goran Ivanisevic’s triumph in 2001.
