Cilic Qualifies For First Wimbledon Open Final With Querrey Win

Marin Cilic has reached the final of the ongoing 2017 Wimbledon Open after he saw off the challenges of American Sam Querrey in their semi-final clash.

The Croatian defeated his 24th seeded opponent 6-7 (6-8) 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 in 2 hours and 56 minutes to seal a first final appearance at SW19.

The 28-year old, who has now qualified for a second major final after his 2014 US Open triumph, will next face Roger Federer or Tomas Berdych in Sunday’s final

Speaking after the match, a delighted Cilic said: “It’s unbelievable,”

“The way this tournament has unfolded I’ve been playing really great tennis.” he added.

With the win over Sam Querrey, Cilic becomes only the second Croatian to qualify for a Wimbledon Open final after Goran Ivanisevic’s triumph in 2001.
