Nigerian runner Yinka Ajayi has expressed his happiness at her bronze medal feat in the 400m event at the ongoing CAA African Senior Athletics Championship taking place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
The 20-year-old made this known immediately after she won bronze medal in the 400m final on Friday.
In her words, Yinka Ajayi said: “I executed my race well and I’m happy I got a medal for my darling country Nigeria.”
Yinka Ajayi posted a time of 51.34s to finish in third place behind silver medallist Christine Botlogetwe of Botswana (51.19s) and race winner cum gold medallist Caster Semanya of South Africa.
Semanya set a new national record with a time of 49.66s to win the race as he broke Heide Seyerling’s 18-year-old record.
