WSL Season Opener: Liverpool Beat Rivals Everton In Opener

Liverpool Ladies started their new Women’s Super League (WSL) campaign on a winning note after a 2-0 victory over their Merseyside rivals Everton Ladies in the season’s opener.

After a goalless first half, Welsh forward Natasha Harding prodded home through a crowd of Everton defenders following a scramble in the penalty area with 25 minutes gone in the second half before substitute Niamh Charles made the result certain with her strike in stoppage time.

With the victory during the new WSL 1 winter season, Liverpool Ladies have put themselves in a good position to properly challenge for the title after a disappointing 4th place finish behind Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal during the summer season.
