Wozniacki Clinch WTA Finals Trophy With Win Over Venus

Caroline Wozniacki has clinched the WTA Finals trophy in Singapore after he defeated Venus Williams in straight sets.

The Danish star saw off Venus 6-4 6-4 to win the final trophy of the season on Sunday in what was her first career win over the American.

The 27-year old had been beaten by Venus in seven previous matches before she made it eighth time lucky to win her first WTA Finals. She was a runner-up in 2010.

Speaking after the match on-court, Wozniacki said:

“I’m still shaking.”

“I was up 5-0, everything was going well, and all of a sudden, Venus just starts upping her game. She went for her shots, she started serving to my body, and I’m just so happy that I managed to win in the end.” she added.

Wozniacki speaking further said: “Eight is my lucky number!”

“I was hoping that if I’m going to beat her, at least once in my career, it has to be today.  I just went out there and I just did my best.” Wozniacki concluded.
