Willy Udube Aims To Maintain Abia Warriors Dominance Over MFM (AUDIO)

Abia Warriors coach Willy Udube believes his appointment has brought about a change in his team’s attitude and says it will be evident when Warriors play MFM today in Lagos.

Udube was appointed in place of Cameroonian Emmanuel Deutsch who left over a pay dispute following a 4-1 loss to Enyimba last month.

His spell has seen an upturn in form with Abia Warriors winning two of their last three games including a last-gasp 2-1 win over bottom side Adamawa United on matchday 24 in Umuahia on Sunday.

Abia Warriors have an impressive record against MFM, winning five and drawing one of seven meetings and Udube says that record is set to continue at the Agege Stadium on matchday 25.

“I’ve said it before, the record is on ground that Abia Warriors has never lost a match in Lagos, and we’re going there to do our best, we’re beginning to put one or two things together, like I said before, it is a work in progress,” the former Go Round FC coach said.

MFM are in a rotten spell of form and are winless in their last 5 drawing twice and losing three with the club also grappling with issues off the pitch.

The Lagos club are in 16th place – three places below their Wednesday’s opponents – and only above the relegation places on goals difference.

Their past two home fixtures have ended in draws incidentally also against teams from the South East – Heartland and Rangers.

Abia Warriors, however, have failed to win on the road this season, taking just two draws in 13 matches.

But Udube believes the club are on the rise and attitudes have changed following his appointment.

“You’ll find out that when I came in, you’ll see that there was a kind of lacklustre attitude, and we’re beginning to put these boys in the right direction. I strongly believe that we will get it.”
