Wikki Sack 10, Retain 21 Ahead Of New Season

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side Wikki Tourists of Bauchi have sacked 10 players ahead of the new league season.

The club also retained the services of 21 players from last season ahead of the new NPFL season scheduled to start as from January 14, 2018.

This was confirmed by the club’s spokesman, Bala Kurba, who further revealed that Falconets coach Bala Nkiyu and Bwasit Mangut will continue as manager and assistant manager respectively.

He also disclosed that the club has signed 18 new players for the 2017/18 season.

In his words via Punch, Kurba said: “Some of the new players are Ishaq Giwa, Mustapha Abdullahi, Nafiu Kabuga, Bala Zakka, Rabiu Musa and Ibrahim Pius, who moved from Gombe United and Katsina United respectively. The first four players joined from Kano Pillars.”

Kurba also revealed that Wikki Tourists signed Ezekiel Thompson from Warri Wolves, Chinedu Iroko from Heartland, Sadiq Abubakar from Golden Sports Academy of Jos and Bature Yaro from Nasarawa United.

He also stated that Wikki Tourists had paid the players their signing-on fees, and that the players have started receiving their salaries for the month of November.

Kurba thereafter expressed confidence in the ability of the team ahead of the new league season.

Wikki Tourists retained their top flight status with a victory over Gombe United on the last Matchday of the 2016/17 season.
