Wigan Stun 10-Man City Out Of The FA Cup As Lightning Strikes Again

Manchester City have been knocked out of the FA Cup by English League One outfit Wigan Athletic after the Latics produced the shock result of the season to make their opponents ‘quadruple’ dream impossible.

Will Grigg was the hero for the home side as he scored the only goal of the game on 79 minutes to hand Paul Cook’s team a 1-0 win over massive favourites City.

The Premier League leaders played over half of the game with 10 men after English international midfielder Fabian Delph was sent off for a reckless lunge.

They were thereafter punished for their lack of killer instincts in front of goal despite dominating the game for the entire duration.

For Wigan Athletic, the result was a repeat of previous phenomenal results against Manchester City (2013 FA Cup final and 2014 FA Cup quarter-final).

Wigan will now face Southampton for a place in the semifinal.
