We Deserved Our Victory – Rohr Speaks On Iceland Win

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has expressed his delight with the players following their 2-0 win over Iceland at the Volgograd Arena, Volgograd in what was a Group D clash at the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

The 64-year-old tactician was speaking in his post-match press conference after the game which boosted Nigeria’s hopes of securing a spot in the knockout stage.

He also praised his boys for turning the game in their favour in the second half.

Former VVV Venlo of Holland forward Ahmed Musa was the match winner for the Eagles as he scored two second half goals to seal victory for his team.

In his words, former Bayern Munich defender, Rohr said: “Iceland were very good, strong and organised – we know it. But I think we improved in the 2nd half and we deserve the victory”

Nigeria will play Argentina in their final Group D game at the Saint Petersburg Stadium, St. Petersburg on Tuesday knowing that at least a draw should be enough to seal a last 16 place.

On the other hand, Iceland need an outright win against group leaders Croatia in their clash at the Rostov Arena on Tuesday to stand any chance of progressing into the knockout stage.
