We Are In Uyo To “Collect Our Three Points” – Sikiru (Audio)

Plateau United midfielder, Sikiru Olatunbunso says his side are in Uyo to “collect three points” when they face Abdu Maikaba’s former side on Matchday 4 of the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

The encounter, an emotional one for Maikaba who guided the Promise Keepers to win the maiden edition of the Aiteo Cup in 2017 is already garnering interest from NPFL fans around the country.

This time, the current Plateau United Gaffer will be walking out of the dugout with tactics armed to deny home fans the same portion of victory they enjoyed during his two year stint.

Despite the history shared between the visiting coach and the home side, the former MFM attacking midfielder told Busybuddiesng.com that the encounter was rather a motivation for his fellow teammates.

“First of all, it’s a big motivation to the players because the coach is the former coach of Akwa United. To come back to play in his former home ground gives the players big confidence and motivates us as well.”

“Tomorrow, it’s not going to be an easy game for Akwa United and us because we are both good sides and there are expectations from us to do well on the field of play.” He said.

For Sikiru, getting three points at the Nest of Champions will be vital for his side’s ambition of winning the league having lost five points in their first two matches of the season – a draw against Ifeanyi Ubah FC on opening day; the other, a shock three nil loss to Abia Warriors.

“Our personal target is to come here and collect our three points because we need the three points as well.” Sikiru said.At the other end, Coach Raphael Everton will hope to use the all important fixture to appease home fans after the Promise Keepers lost one nil to El-Kanemi Warriors in dramatic fashion.
