Watford Stun 10-Man Chelsea Into Submission

Premier League champions Chelsea face a huge battle to retain their top four status after they were humbled 4-1 by Watford in their London Derby clash at the Vicarage Road.

Blues manager Antonio Conte came into the game under a lot of pressure after the 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday and the stunning loss to the Hornets won’t have eased the worries over his future at the club.

The home side started the game well before the turning point of the game happened with the dismissal of French midfielder Timoue Bakayoko after two quickfire yellow cards.

Watford made the numerical advantage count three minutes from time following Troy Deeney’s opener from the penalty spot after Thibaut Courtois was adjudged to have fouled the impressive Gérard Deulofeu.

Chelsea were boosted by the debut of new signing Olivier Giroud and that seemed to play a big part in getting the champions back into the game.

Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard dragged his ailing side back into the game eight minutes from time with a moment of magic and that stunned the home side into action with three late goals from Daryl Janmaat, Deulofeu and substitute Roberto Pereyra for a first victory over Chelsea in 19 years.

The win takes Watford’s point tally to 30 points and are six points above the relegation zone despite being in 11th spot while Chelsea (50 points)still retain their fourth spot ahead of Tottenham Hotspur (49 points) and Arsenal (45 points).
