Watford Captain Deeney Slapped With Four-Match Ban After Red Card Appeal Setback

Watford captain Troy Deeney will miss the next four Premier League games after he was slapped with a four-match ban following his red card on Saturday evening.

Deeney was sent off during his team’s 4-1 loss to Huddersfield Town at home in the league prompting him to appeal against the referee’s verdict.

He has however lost the red card appeal meaning that he will now sit out the next four games, which includes an additional game since Saturday’s sending off was his second major misdemeanour this season.

The English striker served a three-game ban earlier in the season after he was involved in an altercation with Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen when both sides met at Vicarage Road.

He will now miss games against Brighton & Hove Albion (away) Leicester City (home), Swansea City (home) and leaders Manchester City (away).
