War of Leagues: NPFL vs NNL

Pandemonium brews between Nigeria’s top flight league, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), and the second tier, Nigeria National League (NNL), after the second tier decided to promote eight teams for the coming season at its AGM held in Abuja last week. Which means the league would then consist of 28 teams.

After a meeting of the clubs and LMC, the club managers vehemently insisted that only four teams will be promoted from the NNL in other for the league to remain abridged as intended.

A credible source told busybuddiesng.com that the NNL has been given two weeks to conclude their play-offs, which is the usual way the league selects its promoted teams, and present the four clubs that will play in the NPFL next season.

The LMC will meet with the NFF today to deliberate on the issue, although, the start date for “abridged” 2018/2019 season is still yet to be announced.
