Chinese striker Wang Shanshan is the latest sensation making all the headlines in the Asian country and beyond after he scored nine goals in 29 minutes.
Wang, who has now been nicknamed China’s “Nine-Goal Diva” came on as a substitute during the 16-0 annihilation of Tajikistan in a group game played on Monday at the ongoing Asian Games in Indonesia.
The Tianjin Huisen FC of China star has found the back of the net on 11 occasions in three group games.
She scored in their group opener, a 7-0 demolition of Hong Kong before his nine-goal salvo against Tajikistan.
She also produced a soaring header to help China beat North Korea 2-0 on Wednesday and the result ensured that they finished top of their group thereby booking a quarterfinal spot
The Chinese women team are being celebrated back home with 28-year-old Wang singled out for special recognition.
There have been some cheeky suggestions about her stepping up to score some goals for the men’s team.
The Chinese men’s team has been goal-shy in recent engagements.
