Volleyball Div 1: Sunshine Spikers Return To Winning Ways On Day 3

Sunshine Spikers returned to winning ways with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-21) victory over Niger Brass on Day 3 of the ongoing National Volleyball League Division One on Sunday in Bauchi.

After suffering a scandalous loss to Nigeria Prisons on Day 2, Sunshine Spikers wasted no time in dispatching the Minna based team.

Nigeria national team player Daniel Nathaniel led the onslaught against Niger Brass while the likes of Afun Idowu, Tochukwu Owoh and Amos Ohwode also contributed their fair share in the one-sided victory.

Speaking after the game, head coach of Sunshine Spikers Adelakun Adekalu lauded his team’s performance adding that the loss on Day 2 to Prisons was unfortunate.

“I am happy the boys played well against Niger Brass today. The boys played according to my instructions and we can all see the result. Losing to Prison Boys was unfortunate but in the game of volleyball, anything can happen; the better team won the game”.

Adekalu added that Sunshine Spikers will not be distracted from their goal of winning the league and qualifying for the 2020 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.

In Sunday’s other games, Nigeria Prisons fought hard to beat ABM of Katsina 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 22-25, 15-5), while Offa VC overcame a resilient Kada Kings 3-2 (25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 15-12) in the last game of the day.
