V/Ball Premier League: Police, Customs Win On Day 3

The duo of Obayemi Ogunshina and Taraba Amry helped Nigeria Police Force score a second victory over the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on Day 3 of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Volleyball League in Abuja.

In a tight contest decided at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Nigeria Police Force showed grit to edge NSCDC 3-2 (29-31, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 15-9) and claim the win.

The Police team started with aplomb in the first set but NSCDC rallied to turn the set around to win by 31-29 points.

In the second set, Obayemi Ogunshina and Taraba Army came to the fore as the latter’s blocks were complemented by the former’s spikes to help Police clinch the set 25-16.

David Akinbo, Ibrahim Adamu and Emmanuel Jatto rallied NSCDC to victory in the third set but the Police team staged a renaissance to win the fourth set 25-23 and the final set 15-9 to clinch a 3-2 victory in a highly entertaining encounter.

Obayemi Ogunshina who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player said beating former champions NSCDC would serve notice that the Police team are no pushovers.

“Before the commencement of the game, the target was to beat the NSCDC 3-0 major scores but we had to struggle in the first and third set. All the same, Police Force eventually beat NSCDC in the cracker and this means a lot to the team and the coaches.

“In our first game, we beat UCEM 3-0 and now NSCDC 3-2, this will serve as a morale booster and other teams in the league should watch out because we are not pushovers”.

Elsewhere, Nigeria Customs Service eased pass Nigeria Immigration 3-0 (25-17, 28-26, 25-17) in the last game of Day 3.
