Uzoho Makes Disappointing Outing For Elche

Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho conceded five goals in Elche’s 5-1 defeat by Cadiz in a Spanish Segunda league clash on Sunday.

To make matters worse for the 20-year-old shot stopper, four of the goals were scored within 12 second-half minutes.

It also marked the first time the Super Eagles number one goalie was beaten in goal after previously keeping two successive clean sheets.

Elche had taken the lead through Sory Kaba in the ninth minute before goals from Roberto Correa, Dejan Lekic, Jose Mari (pen.), Salva Sanchez, and Manuel Vallejo put five past Uzoho.

Elche, who have now lost four games this season, lie 4th with 14 points from 12 games.

Uzoho is expected to be in goal when Nigeria take on South Africa in a crucial Group E 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match in Johannesburg.

The three-time African champions lead the group on 9 points, one point ahead of Bafana Bafana of South Africa and Uzoho would be hoping for better fortunes in that game.
