World number one, Rafael Nadal, fought back from a set down to beat Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer in the US Open third round match.
In the game that lasted three hours and sixteen minutes, the 31-year-old Spaniard lost the first set 6-7 (3-7) before fighting back to win 6-3 6-1 6-4.
“All the matches have been very tight – I am very happy,” Nadal said after the victory.

“I don’t know how many break points I had before I got the first one. Mentally, I fought a lot until that moment, then I think I played better.”
Asked about the possibility of facing Federer in the last four, Nadal said: “I am in the fourth round now. I don’t think much about that.”
Rafael Nadal will now face Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov in the fourth round.
