Umujose Upstages Jighere To Win Lekki Scrabble Club Quarterly Retreat

Emmanuel Umujose has emerged winner of the Lekki Scrabble Club Quarterly Retreat held over the weekend in Lagos.

Umujose dropped just a game to finish the 12 round competition with a score of 11 wins and a single defeat to emerge as the ‘top Jammer’.

2015 World English Language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA) champion Wellington Jighere placed second while Oyinloye Abiola was third.

Umujose expressed his happiness at winning the tournament despite the high level of competition.

In other categories, Adebisi Adekansi emerged as the Best Female Player, Hussain Yakubu picked the Best Student gong while Dokun Esan emerged as the Best Veteran Player.

Over 80 players competed at the LSC Quarterly Retreat where about one million naira cash was won in prizes.

Meanwhile, the Adowei Ebikeme led Lekki Scrabble Club has promised to improve on the standard of the tournament even as stakeholders gave a high rating approval to the Retreat.

The retreat was the latest instalment in the club’s organized tournament.
