Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah proved to be the hero for Mainz 05 after he scored the only goal of the game to give his team 1-0 home win over VfB Stuttgart on Sunday afternoon.
The former Werder Bremen star came on as a 67th substitute for French forward Jean-Philippe Matata and needed just eight minutes to make his presence felt.
Ujah finished off a counterattack with a quarter of an hour left to play to hand his side a win in their opening match of the new Bundesliga season.
It was the first goal of his second spell at the club.
Anthony Ujah is a former Super Eagles international and made seven appearances for the three-time African champions.
