UCL Wrap: Holders Real Finally Beat Dortmund At Home; City, Spurs Win While Liverpool Record Another Draw

Defending champions Real Madrid secured their first away win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) after an impressive 3-1 victory at the Signa Iduna Park in a Group H clash.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo netted a brace to take his season tally to 4 goals in 2 appearances after Welsh forward Gareth Bale had opened the scoring. Gabon striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang got what turned out to be a consolation goal for the home side.

Staying with Group H, Tottenham Hotspur continued their excellent European form following a 3-0 win at Cypriot club Apoel Nicosia. Star player Harry Kane was the star of the show as he netted a hat-trick to propel his team to a second win from 2 games in in this season’s UCL.

Another English team in Manchester City also made it 2 wins from 2 games after a 2-0 home win over Ukrainian champions Shakthar Donetsk in Group F. Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne gave the hosts the lead three minutes into the second half. in-form striker Sergio Aguero could have added to that goal but he could not score from the penalty spot though fellow forward Raheem Sterling spared his blushes by sealing the win on the stroke of fulltime.

Liverpool were the only English side that didn’t win following a 1-1 draw at Spartak Moscow. Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho netted a 31st minute equaliser to cancel out Spartak Moscow’s goal eight minutes earlier thus making it two points from two league games.
