The high profile round of 16 first leg clash between Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu lived up to its billing after the European champions came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over their guests.

The French giants took a 33rd minute lead through Adrien Rabiot before Ronaldo equalised from the spot on the stroke of halftime.

The Portuguese superstar added his brace with seven second half minutes and the Los Merengues further stretched their lead through Marcelo three minutes later to put themselves in a fantastic position ahead of the second leg scheduled for the Parc des Princes next month.

In the other round of 16 tie on Wednesday night, Senegal forward Sadio Mane produced his best performance of the season as he netted a hattrick to lead Liverpool to a 5-0 win at FC Porto.

Mane and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a 2-0 lead at the interval against their hosts before the Senegalese star added a third Liverpool goal after halftime.

Roberto Firmino scored the fourth goal for the Reds before the impressive Mane completed his hattrick five minutes from time to render the second leg clash at Anfield next month inconsequential.
