UCL Qualifying Stage: Nigerian Stars Ogu, Nwakaeme On Target For Israeli Club

Nigerian players John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme scored for their Israeli club Hapoel Beer Sheva FC in the 3-2 win over hosts and Hungarian champions Budapest Honved FC in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) second round clash.

The result at the Stadion Jozsef Bozsik secured a 5-3 aggregate win that was more than enough for Hapoel to qualify for the third round of the UCL qualifying stage.

Leading 2-1 from the first leg in Israel, Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu gave his side an early lead in the 12th minute before compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme doubled the advantage four minutes later. Davide Lanzafame pulled one back for the home side from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime.

Botond Barath equalized for Honved to give his side slim hopes with 17 minutes left on the clock however those hopes were extinguished after the previously mentioned Nwakaeme completed his brace six minutes from time for a 3-2 win in favour of his team.

John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme both featured for the entire duration of the game.
