UCL: Osimhen’s Fifth Consecutive Goal At Home Not Enough For Lille Against Chelsea

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his incredible streak in front of goal at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy when he netted in his fifth consecutive home game for Lille in their 1-2 loss to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old rose highest to nod the home side level with his first goal in the Champions League from a corner kick in the 33rd minute after Tammy Abraham had given Chelsea the lead in the 22nd minute on his 22nd birthday.

Christophe Galtier’s men couldn’t keep things level however and were punished by a Willian winner in the 78th minute to condemn the Great Danes to a second straight loss in Group H and a 13th consecutive match without a victory in European competition.

Chelsea are now off the mark in Group H after losing at home to Valencia a fortnight ago, although it is Ajax who continue to top the Group with a maximum six points thanks to their 3-0 victory away in Spain.

Lampard’s team face the Dutch club next and while Victor Osimhen will look to continue his goalscoring run when Lille welcome Valencia to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
